For Stylists & Salons

SalonRecords FAQ

Booking, client records, deposits, calendar, messaging, salon teams, and the business rules behind the platform.

Our Product Principle

Your Business. Your Clients. Your Workflow.

We build the operating tools behind the relationship. We do not sell placement against you, advertise competitors to your customers, or turn your client experience into a public marketplace.

What is SalonRecords?

SalonRecords is business operating software for independent stylists and salons. It connects client records, appointments, service history, formulas, notes, photos, services, payments, messaging, team access, documentation, and salon workflows in one professional system.

What is BookYourStylist?

BookYourStylist is the client-facing side of SalonRecords. Your clients use it to review services, book appointments, register as a salon customer, sign in to their account, receive enabled communications, and interact with the business they already chose.

Is SalonRecords or BookYourStylist a salon directory or marketplace?

No. We are not a salon listing page, ranking site, lead marketplace, or advertising network. Your client-facing experience is centered on your business, not on helping clients shop competing providers.

Will you advertise other salons or stylists to my clients?

No. We do not place competing salons, sponsored providers, nearby alternatives, or paid rankings inside your BookYourStylist experience.

Can I keep my own salon name, branding, and client experience?

Yes. BookYourStylist is designed to feel like an extension of your business. Independent stylists receive their own personalized address, while Salon Plan businesses can present the salon brand and route clients to individual team stylists within the salon's BookYourStylist site.

How does online booking work?

You control the services that are bookable online, service duration, availability, and booking rules. Clients can choose an available service and appointment time through BookYourStylist. Appointments then flow into SalonRecords for professional management.

Can I require a deposit?

Yes. Supported plans can require deposits for selected services using Stripe. You control which services require a deposit and the amount. Individual clients can also be marked as deposit-exempt when appropriate.

Does SalonRecords connect with Google Calendar?

Yes. A stylist can connect Google Calendar so appointment activity can stay coordinated with the calendar they already use. Calendar connection and synchronization are managed from SalonRecords.

Can clients receive confirmations and reminders?

Yes. SalonRecords and BookYourStylist support appointment-related email and optional transactional SMS workflows. SMS requires client opt-in and can be used for confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, cancellations, and other appointment-related service messages.

Do clients need a BookYourStylist account before they can book?

No. A new client can register as a New Salon Customer and book without first creating a permanent BookYourStylist login. They can create an account later for easier access to appointment history and enabled client features.

Can I manage reviews and referrals?

Yes. SalonRecords includes client review and referral workflows, with additional engagement features available according to plan and release status. These tools are designed to keep the relationship connected to your own business.

What information can I keep in a client record?

Client records can include contact information, appointment history, service history, formulas, notes, photos, preferences, referral information, deposit settings, and other salon-specific details needed to serve the client consistently.

Can I archive records instead of deleting them?

Yes. SalonRecords uses archive workflows for important business records so history can be preserved instead of permanently erased. Authorized administrators can restore archived information when needed.

What is the SDS Library?

The SDS Library gives salon professionals a central place to keep and access Safety Data Sheet information used in the salon environment.

How does the Salon Plan work for teams?

The Salon Plan gives the salon owner a shared operating environment with managed team seats, roles, permissions, salon-level branding, and individual stylist identities. Each salon stylist keeps their own services, schedule, bookings, and client work while operating inside the salon structure.

Can salon owners control what team members can see and do?

Yes. Salon Plan includes role- and permission-based access so the owner can control which team members can work with clients, appointments, schedules, services, formulas, settings, payments, and administrative functions.

Who owns client information on the Salon Plan?

Salon client ownership can be managed according to the salon's operating policy. Access and ownership are separate concepts, so a stylist may be allowed to work with a salon-owned client record without that record becoming personally owned by the stylist.

Who owns formulas on the Salon Plan?

Formula ownership can be managed separately from client ownership. The salon can preserve technical history and authorship while still applying its own business rules for access and ownership.

What happens when a stylist leaves a salon?

The stylist can be deactivated or removed from salon access without deleting historical salon information. Client records, appointments, formulas, and service history can remain available according to the salon's ownership and access policies.

Who is the platform designed for?

SalonRecords is built for independent stylists, salon-suite professionals, studio owners, and salons that want modern business tools without giving up control of their brand, client relationships, and workflow.

Do I have to replace every tool I already use?

No. The platform is designed to work alongside the tools that still make sense for your business. During onboarding we can identify what SalonRecords should replace, what should stay, and where integrations are useful.

What is the Founding Beta?

The Founding Beta is a limited early-access group for stylists and salons willing to use SalonRecords and BookYourStylist in real business workflows and provide practical feedback. The group is intentionally small so feedback can directly shape the product before broader release.

How do I apply for the beta?

Go to salonrecords.com/beta to create your free Beta account. After creating your account, you'll finish your SalonRecords registration so we can activate your portal and BookYourStylist experience.
